Crossrail scoops prize for civil engineering excellence
Crossrail has bagged the London Infrastructure Award for civil engineering excellence.
A ceremony run by the Institution of Civil Engineers saw the Crossrail team honoured at the institute’s headquarters on Thursday night.
Part of Crossrail’s new rail line will see Whitechapel connect Canary Wharf, crossing the Thames, with a new station in Woolwich and connecting with the North Kent Line at Abbey Wood.
The judging panel, including the Deputy Mayor of London, Cllr Victoria Borwick AM, said: “Crossrail represents the greatest real infrastructure project London has seen in modern times.
